Divemaster Course
|
After you’ve completed the PADI Rescue Diver course, you’re ready for PADI Divemaster. PADI Divemaster training develops your leadership abilities by teaching you to supervise dive activities and assist instructors with student divers. PADI Divemasters:
- Work with local dive centers, on live-aboard dive boats, yachts and at exotic resort locations.
- Assist PADI Instructors with scuba classes.
- Lead PADI Scuba Divers on guided dive tours.
- Teach and certify PADI Skin Divers.
- Conduct PADI Scuba Review programs for certified divers.
- Conduct Discover Local Diving orientations.
- Teach The Digital Underwater Photographer Specialty Course after successfully completing a Digital Underwater Specialty Instructor Training Course.
- Teach Emergency First Response CPR and First Aid programs after completing the Emergency First Response instructor training program.

Who Can Learn? Prerequisites include:
- PADI Rescue Diver certification or qualifying certification from another organization.
- 20 logged dives.

What is Involved? During the Divemaster program, you:
- Learn dive leadership skills through classroom sessions and by using the PADI Divemaster Manual and video.
- Complete a series of water skills and stamina exercises in confined and open water environments.
- Master three required training exercises that test organizational and problem solving abilities.
- Map a dive site, including underwater and surface features.
- Equipment exchange: Demonstrate the ability to solve unanticipated problems underwater.
- Conduct a simulated or actual class, under the supervision of a PADI Instructor.
Additionally, you complete an Internship or Practical Training Exercise (choose one):
- Internship: Hands-on experience supervising and assisting divers in actual PADI programs, under the guidance of a PADI Instructor
- Practical Training Exercises: simulated scenarios in supervising and assisting divers, under the supervision of a PADI Instructor
- Must have a minimum of 60 logged dives to complete the PADI Divemaster course.

Where Can You Learn? As you can imagine, all classroom and pool sessions take place at Diver’s Den. The many open-water training dives will take place at out private dive site here in the St. Marys area, aboard Georgia Wreckreation and the neighboring Florida springs. |

When Can You Learn? Divemaster training is an ongoing process that spreads itself over several weeks and a number of beginning and continuing education courses. Talk to us about how we can work this into your schedule. |

How Much Does it Cost? The Advanced Open Water Diver course is $649 per person and includes all instruction. Students are responsible for providing:
- Personal diving equipment (see list below).
- All air or gas fills.
- Dive site admission or charter fees.
- Transportation to and from dive sites.
- Accommodations and meals, as needed.
- PADI Divemaster registration fees and professional liability insurance.

What Equipment Will You Need? students are responsible for supplying the following:
- Mask, snorkel, fins.
- Adequate exposure protection.
- One cylinder per dive, per day.
- Weight system, weights.
- Buoyancy Control Device (BC).
- Regulator/alternate air source.
- Depth gauge/timer or computer.
- Audible surface signal.
- Cutting tool.
- Dive tables and slate.
- Dive light.
- Pocket mask.
This needs to be personally owned, up-to-date and well maintained dive gear, as it reflects on you as a professional. You will also need to get the materials contained in the PADI Divemaster Crew Pack (ask us for details).
